On February 25, the Land Board is scheduled to hear a permit from developers with plans to construct an 18-story telescope complex (with 21,000 sq. ft. office building, road, and parking lot) on the northern plateau of Mauna Kea's sacred summit region.

This development, known as the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT), is the latest in a long line (forty years!) of industrial developments proposed for Mauna Kea.

Mauna Kea is unique in the world, a place of deep significance in the Hawaiian worldview, and home to rare Hawaiian plants and animals found nowhere else on the planet. Don't let developers remove any more of this Hawaiian mountain top!
