DOH Hearing on Kekaha Shirmp Farm
Hearing on permit to discharge wastewater effluent from Sunset Capital, Inc shrimp farm operation in Kekaha, Kaua`i.
This past spring, Sunrise Capital filed for a Draft National Pollutant Discharge Elimination permit with the state Department of Health, requesting permission to discharge up to 30 million gallons of wastewater effluent and treated shrimp remains into the ocean on a daily basis. Ocean health advocates called for a public hearing, which will now be held on Tuesday, November 13.
