Mauna Kea is at the center of a decades-long conflict over its summit, and stands today as a "symbol of the Hawaiian struggle for physical, cultural and political survival."

Please join us for a community meeting  and discussion on the future of this wahi pana, on Feb 7 at the Kamakakuokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies.

- Presentation by Marti Townsend, Staff Attorney, on history and current issues related to the Mauna Kea struggle.
- Update and discussion on the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT).  This 18-story, 5-acre structure is being proposed for the last unobstructed viewplane on the summit of Mauna Kea.  The Board of Land and Natural Resources is scheduled to make a decision on whether to grant the construction permit for this telescope in February.
